About
We’re here for the people that experience the world through a unique lens.
Progressive, forward thinking therapy, bringing curiosity and play in to the therapeutic space.
About You
Some people move through life feeling like they exist only on the edges of society, never feeling like they fully fit in. They navigate a world that doesn’t seem like it’s set up for them, often finding it difficult to feel truly understood, even by those closest to them. Some people hide, concealing aspects of themselves that feel too vulnerable to expose, all the while wishing they could be loved unconditionally for who they really are.
At Reframe Talking Therapies, we exist for those people.
Who We Are
We came together as a collective of therapists sharing in the belief that feeling genuinely understood isn’t a luxury – it is fundamental to good therapeutic work. That’s why we don’t just match you with professionally trained therapists. We match you with therapists who have walked similar paths, and who bring their own lived experience alongside their clinical practice to support the individuals they sit across from each week.
Our practice is open to everyone, but our work at Reframe has a large focus on three main areas where people are too often under served:
- Neurodiversity – ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and beyond.
- Appearance & disability diversity — visible difference, physical disability, hidden disability, gender transition, and more.
- Relational diversity — adoption, foster care, non-monogamous relationships and the full spectrum of how people love and connect.
Many people we support don’t fit neatly into a single category. They sit across several, or somewhere in between – and that is something we understand well. Our therapists are not just allies of these communities, many of us are part of them. So if you’ve ever sat and wondered whether anyone will get it – we think you might like what we’re about.
Our therapists
We are a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of qualified Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Counselling Psychologists all working together to support individuals attending therapy with us. Each of us brings both professional and lived experience to our work, offering thoughtful and affirming therapy that recognises the whole person as someone in need of healing not fixing. Whilst we understand the importance of labels and diagnosis, we are very much a relational practice and understand that each person has their own unique set of needs.
Our Therapists at Reframe are carefully selected based on their own lived experience, so that you receive the upmost care, compassion and understanding in your therapy sessions from a therapist that really ‘gets it’. All of our team in some way sit within the focused areas we provide therapy for. Our work with individuals focuses on the importance of relationship. From initial assessment right the way through to your last session, we are here to provide authentic, genuine and considered support to you throughout your therapeutic experience with us.
Our Mission
We’re opening up the conversation around understanding and respecting differences, both in society and within the helping professions to provide more support and advocacy to under-represented individuals who need therapeutic support from therapists who live it themselves.
We acknowledge how living outside of ‘social norms’ or through a unique lens can affect your social identity and the different modes of discrimination and privilege that play a part in it. We understand the complexity of the human experience and we also understand that this is still highly under-represented in mainstream therapy.
Our aim is to build a growing practice, encompassing the wide spectrum of human experience with therapists who have first hand experience of the areas of your life you’re coming to therapy for. We are here to create a safe space for healing whilst building community and social engagement through our various mediums of support.
Our main areas we are most dedicated to at Reframe are:
- Advocacy
- Education
- Therapeutic support
- Community
We want to create a space that ‘feeds the soul’ through therapeutic support, creative workshops and annual events. All whilst advocating for more understanding and knowledge within the helping professions.
Our ‘Geek/Nerd’ Culture
As therapists, we understand the power of telling your story, especially in relation to therapy and the healing that occurs from having your experiences heard and validated.
Story comes in many formats and we have a love and appreciation for storytelling of all kinds. Films/movies, music, spoken word, performance, video games, table top RPG’s, board games and much more. We understand the importance of story, how it can foster human connection, build empathy and help individuals understand and express who they are and how they find their place in the world.
At Reframe Talking Therapies our hope is to bring curiosity and play into the therapeutic space, whether that’s the use of character creation to explore your sense of self in therapy sessions or enjoying action and agency without consequence in our table top RGP campaigns. We hope to foster a playful curiosity as you explore the parts of your internal landscape yet undiscovered.
